ATF Automatic Transmission Fluid DEX III

An automatic transmission fluid for transmissions calling for a Dexron III-type fluid, supplied in 1 litre packs.

Automatic transmission fluid is a friction-controlled product: the clutch packs and torque converter inside the gearbox are calibrated around a specific fluid’s friction characteristics, so the wrong fluid shows up as shift-quality problems rather than immediate failure.

It also serves as the hydraulic medium for the valve body, which makes viscosity and low-temperature flow part of the specification.

Transmission fluid requirements are unit-specific. Check what the gearbox calls for before filling — a Dexron III-type fluid is not a universal substitute.
